LISTEN . LEARN . LEAD

Wasatch County is a great place to live, work, raise a family, and build a future. But our county is changing quickly. The decisions being made today about growth, infrastructure, taxes, transportation, and land use will affect our communities for years to come.
I’m running for County Council because I believe the people who live here should have a meaningful voice in those decisions.
I don’t believe elected officials need to pretend they have all the answers. Good decisions start with listening to residents, property owners, businesses, and the people who will actually be affected.
Then you do the homework.
You ask questions. You look at the costs and the long-term consequences. You make sure growth and infrastructure are planned responsibly. You protect property rights while also considering the impact decisions can have on neighbors and the community. And you remember that every dollar government spends came from someone who worked to earn it.
When it’s time to make a decision, you should be willing to explain why you made it.
I want to help preserve what makes Wasatch County a great place while making thoughtful decisions about the growth and challenges ahead.
I won’t promise that everyone will agree with every vote I make. I will promise to listen, learn, ask questions, do the homework, and make decisions with integrity.
LISTEN. LEARN. LEAD.

Shawn Taylor grew up in rural Utah around ranching, livestock, irrigation, equipment, and the kind of hands-on problem solving that comes with rural life.
Shawn and his wife, Addie, have built several businesses in a variety of markets. That experience has taught him that plans have to work in the real world, budgets matter, and decisions have consequences.
Shawn has been involved in small-business and legislative advocacy, rural-access issues, local government, and community affairs for years. He has served in GOP precinct and delegate roles and currently serves on the Wasatch County GOP Board as Media Specialist.
Through those experiences, Shawn has learned the importance of listening to different perspectives, asking questions, and understanding the facts before making a decision.
He believes public service should work the same way. Listen to the people you represent. Learn the facts. Ask the difficult questions. Then make a decision and be accountable for it.
Listen. Learn. Lead.
Good decisions start by hearing from the people affected by them. I will listen to residents, ask questions, and seek different perspectives before forming a final opinion.
Leadership requires doing the homework. I will study the facts, understand the costs and consequences, and make sure I understand an issue before deciding where I stand.
Listening and learning have to result in action. I will make thoughtful decisions, explain my reasoning, take responsibility for my votes, and be willing to change course when better information warrants it.
